Black and Blue

Last week we took a drive to a little town less than an hour away to do some Christmas shopping. We were successful in our mission and managed to cross everything off our list. As usual, we stopped for lunch at our favourite restaurant: a British-style pub. I told you about our last visit here, and I wondered what our latest experience would be.

It was busy for a Monday, and the lone server was rushed off her feet, but she managed to take our drink orders immediately and left the menus with us. We had already looked at the menu on their website, but when we saw the lunch specials we both chose the grilled flatbread topped with tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese. Sounds like a pizza, doesn't it?

While waiting for our food I excused myself and went to the ladies' room, wondering if I would see the birch bundle again.

It was still in its corner, looking slightly the worse for wear. (This is the picture I took last time.) On the wall to the right, above the light switch, was a large poster that surprised me. It said:

Black and blue
And proud of it

So it seemed discipline was still being enforced, and that explained the tattered nature of the birch twigs. At least, that was what first ran through my spanko mind. Then I realized that the poster was advertising some sort of beer. I didn't have my phone with me so I couldn't take a picture of it, but it made me smile, and I memorized the slogan so I could share it with you.

We have plans for another shopping expedition next Spring, and I wonder what surprise will be in store for me next time.

Sounds like the owners have a sense of humor...and probably enjoy some spanking fun...

I think the owners like messing with their customers minds! I agree they are spankos playing with those that would get the irony of it all!
Fun!

Hermione, next to the cane, I love the birch rod, those wooden twigs when they swish down on a naughty woman's naked rear end, is music to my ears. Thank you for the photo. I do so hope, like you they were used on this waitress who served you when her service to a customer was to slow. Which left her bare bottom black and blue. Boo hoo, as she her tears.

abby - I suspect they do!

Roz - I can't wait to go back, and I'll keep my phone in my pocket next time.

Minelle - I think you're right.

Six - It just might have happened, but we'll never know.

Hugs,
Hermione

I remember the picture. You have an artist's eye for the pun, the whimsy, the might-have-been or could-be in life. Must be fun to people watch with you. Jon

It is funny how these little things make us spankos smile :-) Hugs

I remembered that pub from another story, and my mind would totally go there too.

And yay for Christmas shopping with your partner, so fun I think.

The owners surely are into spanking. I think the clues are all there and the beer advertisment is only a cover up for the uninitiated, but the message clearly means that they are actively into spanking fun.
I am curious about your next visit there and what new clues they might give.
Great that you have finished the Christmas shopping that early. If it is not too crowded, because everybody wants to go, it can be great fun.

It IS funny how a spanko thinks! And I bet you are not the only customer to pick up on the implication there. :) Cali

I love the way a spankos mind works. Most would not have even thought twicenter about the lovely bathroom deco. I'm with everyone else, I think the owners are total spankos.

LOL Hermione! :) Glad that you returned to find this very seemingly spanky inclusion to the puzzle of the birches! They could be spankos, I agree...

I always have to laugh at myself when I walk into a store these days. There sure are a lot of "could be" implements out there! More fun for all of us! Love the post! Many hugs,

<3 Katie

LOL Hermione...Putting that sign next to the birch bundle, I do have to wonder if the owners are spankos. ;) Thanks for sharing!

Only real spankos look at innocent displays and conjure up something to do with spanking. I know I do, all the time, and enjoy the private thoughts.

Jon - I do have a good eye for spanko possibilities. I'm not so sure about the rest.

Leigh - We sure do!

Terpsichore - Yes, and there are plenty of them about.

Julia - It was fun. I love shopping, and Ron's always happy to get it over with as soon as possible.

Nina - I suspect they are kinky in some way.

Cali - I wonder if any other customers associated the poster with the birch bundle.

*Bonnie* - I'll have to agree with you.

Katie - Bundles of twigs are very popular right now. I see them on many TV shows.

Clara - I think I do.

Cat - My spanko senses tel me yes.

Baxter - Isn't it fun!

Ronnie - They looked rather battered, so I'd like to think they had been.

Hugs,
Hermione

Like everyone else, I fully believe the placement of the poster was intentional! Great sense of humor.

Hermione,
Sounds as if service has improved since your original
visit and thus I would guess the poster was not so much for the customers; but for the wait staff.

The poster being the reminder to the waitress to be proud of her improved work; despite the motivational means. ;)
