It could have happened to anyone. Ron came home yesterday and showed me his right hand. One finger was very bruised and swollen. Somehow he had managed to get into a disagreement with a revolving door, and the door had won. Of course, I was very concerned and sympathetic."But that's your spanking hand!"
"So it is."
Ron turned me around and gave me an experimental swat on the bottom.
"Ouch," I said appreciatively.
"OW," Ron echoed. He didn't sound happy. But then, in an attempt to reassure me, "I'll have to use the cane."
The cane? He must be joking, right? There were other implements he could hold just as easily. More easily, in fact. The cane was heavy, and long, and . . . Maybe I'd better get some aspirin and ice to help his hand get back to normal.
Or maybe not.
Hermione, Ron knows how to get the last laugh it seems, though it could be fun all the same.

ReplyDeleteYou could try getting Ron to try and learn to use his other hand. It is always useful to have a spanker around that has learned how to tackle the task from both sides.

Prefectdt - I am whining because the cane in question is a regular wooden walking stick. I think that would be a bit much for a first caning.
Yes, he really should learn to use both hands equally. I suggested shovelling snow with alternate arms as a way of practising and building up strength in the non-dominant arms.
