From time to time I order skin care products from an online pharmacy that offers reward points. Recently, the reward offer (50,000 points after spending a minimum amount) was too good to pass up, so I ordered some products that I regularly use.

Included in my offer were several samples of products I have never used: neck cream, upper arm cream, facial mask, booty mask.

Wait, what? A booty mask? The label promised a firmer, tighter bum with regular use. So I tried it. The label warned to wash hands after applying, and that there might be a tingling sensation. I dipped my fingers into the jar and rubbed it onto my less-than-firm bottom.

Unfortunately, some of the cream strayed into the sensitive area between my cheeks, and my "rosebud" was on fire. Yeowch! I tried to wash off the cream in that area as best I could, but it didn't stop the fire. So I reached for my container of Bag Balm and rubbed some on. If you aren't familiar with it, Bag Balm was originally developed to treat the udders of cows with mastitis, but it has since become quite popular with humans. It's like medicated Vaseline, and is very soothing on delicate areas of the body.

The jar of Booty Mask went into the trash, and my butt cheeks sizzled for about an hour or so. I'll have to learn to live with an unfirm, loose bottom. No more masks for me :)

Recap: Spanko Brunch 2.0 for October 27

How do your pets react to your spanking activity?

Dan: Our dogs are always outside the bedroom when it happens. One of them gets very wigged out by sudden movements, noise, loud voices, etc. So, I don't think they would deal with it well.

Roz: Great question! We had cats. They would often give a look like here we go again looking a bit miffed then slowly exit the bedroom lol. If we were in the lounge they would curl up away from the action.

CEM: My imaginary Pterodactyl digs it. :)

FL: Dogs often confuse rough house playing between children as aggressive attacks on their family member and have then protected their human, sometimes with tragic results. They have been known to do the same with adults. Best to always put dogs in another room, preferably out of earshot as well. Turn on a radio or TV if necessary. If nothing else, nobody needs a cold, wet, inquisitive snout suddenly thrust into an exposed and vulnerable area! 

Bonnie: We've had several kitties over the years. Most want to be anywhere but where a spanking is taking place. I think the noise bothers them. However, we had one little guy who was abnormally interested in the proceedings. On occasion, we had to put him out of the room.

Barrel: If the spanking is a short one, we don’t worry about the dog. However, during an extended session, we always keep him on the other side of the closed bedroom door.

Wendel: No dogs or cats here. We had a guinea pig once. She seemed to enjoy watching. 

Ronnie: When we had our German Shepherd we would put her in another room with the door shut and the tv on as one time we must have left door slightly open and she came out and started whining and barking outside the bedroom door. 

S: Unfortunately, no actual spankings here so the pets are okay.

Anon: We close the door.

49 years ago I had a girlfriend who had an uncommonly close relationship with her Irish setter. The dog would reluctantly leave the room whenever things got intimate. It was weird. We didn’t last long.

KDPierre: Our snakes don't seem to mind, nor do the fish.

Hermione: Our budgies don't care one way or the other. The dogs are in their crates in another room,  with filled Kongs to keep them busy, and the TV is turned on for them.

Are there seasonal differences in your spanking activity?

CEM: Weather and season has no bearing. Obviously it affects location, wardrobe and factors such as that, but once those accommodations are taken care of, the end result is the same.

Bonnie: I can't think of any major seasonal difference.

Wendel: For indoor activity there is no real difference thanks to the furnace and air conditioner. We do enjoy outdoor spanking and the change in weather does affect it. The cooler it gets the more layers we wear and have to pull down to get spanked. The Misses loves being paddled in the pouring rain. It gets her very aroused and I do enjoy spanking her as the rain hits her bare bottom. As for winter, the paddle hurts a heck of a lot more in the snow. 

A.J.: Oh, good Lord - how’d I miss that??? Spanking a bare bottom in the great outdoors while in the pouring rain!!! Son-of-bitch how did I not think of that???

Answer to the question- not at all.

Mija: For me, since I like spanking play that involves school uniforms and such, cooler seasons tend to make me feel more into it. That said, wearing overalls while gardening in the summer has also made me feel into spanking. 

Roz: Apart from wardrobe and layers the biggest change is to my mindset. In the warmer seasons with everyone being outside in the gardens more, and later at night and doors and windows open I am far more paranoid about being heard, let alone seen by neighbours. 

Jack: Seasonal change, not in this household. Wife/Mommy spanking does not change, she has said I tend to be more naughty in the fall/winter months.

Dan: In the past there was a seasonal aspect, but it was an indirect cause and effect. I got spanked more often, and I agreed it was deserved more often, in the latter third of the year, because of work. Our spankings are all disciplinary, and there were just way more temptations to misbehavior in the latter part of the year. Once the weather turned cold, it was very likely someone on the team would wander in late in the afternoon to suggest a glass of wine at the cozy bar across the street. One would become three or more. There was always work pressure bring in more money to bring in a "good year," and the stress would result in bad moods and acting out. Then, there are all the family gatherings that, even when a good time, add an element of stress. And, all the office holiday parties. It was all a perfect prescription for more bad behavior and bad attitude, resulting in more frequent spankings. 

Rosco: The only seasonal difference I can think of is that in late spring, the wild plum trees in our area can produce straight shoots from the base that make great switches. So it’s that time of the year that I’ll get a few switchings, a different feel than whippings or paddlings - tiny little welts that satisfy like cold lemonade on a hot summer’s day.

S: As a true spanko who thinks about spanking 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, the change in seasons does not mean much.

Barrel: Not much difference for us. Maybe the only difference is how my body reacts during a session. I always hyperventilate and sweat during a whipping and caning. In the warmer months, I sweat more. I can tell as when I get off the bench, the towel I have under me is damp. But that doesn’t impede our sessions.        

Hermione: When the weather turns colder, a nice hot bottom is a great way to warm up!

Autumn is here, and that means winter is just around the corner. But in the Southern Hemisphere, it's just the opposite; spring has sprung there.

Recap: Spanko Brunch 2.0 for October 13

It's Thanksgiving Day here in Canada, and pumpkin pie is on the menu tonight. Before we can enjoy it, let's see what you said about visiting a professional Dom or Domme.

Bonnie: Ever could be a long time, but I don't think so.

Graham: I went many times in my 30's and 40's. Had rewarding experiences and, surprisingly to me at the time, met some very nice women. Although the industry norm is that these women don't date clients, that is not at all the case. Two people can establish a meaningful relationship and friendship in these situations, which fortunately occurred with me. I never met anyone who wasn't nice and competent and focused on customers' needs. 

CEM: Nope, never, ever, ever on the "pro-sub". However, I do like fresh red tomatoes, and I like making women's bare bottoms the color of...red tomatoes. :) 

Dan: I never say never, but it's unlikely. The only way I can see it happening is if, god forbid, something happened to my wife or, in the unlikely event we split up after 30+ years. Even then, I don't know that my very strong interest in domestic discipline-style spankings (a) would be fulfilled by a pro, since that wouldn't be in a realistic domestic relationship; (b) is so strong that I would seek it out from a pro if it wasn't happening in a primary relationship.

Enzo: I have never visited a pro-domme because that is not my preferred dynamic.

However, I have often considered offering my services as "pro-dom" and wonder if I would get any interested inquiries. 

Wendel: Nope and nope. The Misses in leather panties swinging a belt is all I need to cover that desire.

FL: Never have but am strongly leaning towards it. I am single (widowed) and not getting any younger, so I think it's a 'now-or-never' thing for me. My biggest concern is that it would be a huge and expensive disappointment without the emotional connection of a relationship.

Jack: Never thought about it, looking back I would say I should have, but not for sexual pleasure, but for a woman taking charge. 

Rosco: I am intrigued and would go if I thought she was right for me, but it’s not likely to be compatible with my marriage.

Ideally Irene would take me herself, dragging me in by the ear whining and pouting and begging. This naughty boy is incorrigible, she’d explain, I need someone to help me give him a thrashing he won’t forget.

jpo: I used to visit a male pro dom for spankings. I had to appear at his door bare naked, having undressed in the car, it involved walking naked up his driveway, knocking on the door and asking for a spanking when he answered. Some days he would just close the door and leave me standing there naked until he decided to let me in the house.
Then he would tie and gag me and proceed to whip my sissy bare bottom with a heavy strap for usually 45 minutes. He was very good at using a strap and often left me crying like the little sissy b*tch i am.

Prefectdt: I have in the past and I will in the future :)

S: In the past I have hired a submissive women who likes to be spanked. Most of the women I spanked this way are delightful spirits who enjoy spending time having their bottoms roasted. I recently spanked a lovely woman so hard that I had a blood blister on my hand. When we were done she just said that was wonderful, I hope we can do it again soon. I know it is not perfect but it helps me retain some of my sanity.

I just read all of the comments, I know it is not my place, but I would encourage FL to go for it. The women I have met over the years have been wonderful and they made me feel great about our interest. 

FL: It's absolutely "your place" to offer an opinion and I truly appreciate it. Thank you. One of the biggest pluses I can see is being able to allow myself to "let go" in a session, without fear of judgment or damage to an existing relationship. Feeling great about enjoying being spanked would be wonderful; frankly, I'd be happy just not feeling ashamed about it.      

Mija: It's something I've thought about, a lot. I haven't, but I think I will someday. I like the idea of being able to push some of my limits with someone who's experienced and, perhaps, into the idea of being a little bit cruel.

The trick, as far as I'm concerned, would be finding someone whose primary kink is the corporal punishment end of spanking. Someone who understands it's the center of my kink, not an expression of or pathway to submission.  

Barrel: Yes I have, and will consider it. I have entertained the idea of a session with a pro domme with my wife for my birthday. I think my wife would appreciate watching a pro deal with me. I am encouraged with all the positive comments about friendly and professional relationships that may be available.

Roz: Not for me. Spanking for me has to be within the bounds of a relationship with a connection between us.

Hermione: I can't see myself ever doing that, but if it works for you, go for it and enjoy it.

Our tomato harvest is coming to an end, and the remaining ones are ripening on our dining room table. Some will eaten as a side dish or in a sandwich, but most of them will be canned (well, jarred, actually) for winter use. Yes, I know store-bought canned tomatoes are cheap, but I get real satisfaction out of canning them myself and seeing the rows of filled Mason jars with layers of red, yellow and brown fruit.

Now, on to our weekly discussion, and a topic that was inspired by a comment in one of our previous brunches.

What do you like to see in a spanking picture?

Wendel: For me the best spanking pictures are the ladies getting it on the bare bottom. It has to show the bottom along with all the beautiful curves and creases. I am also a fan of the pics showing the upset, firm lady sitting on a chair with a paddle awaiting her bad boy’s arrival across her lap. Severe bruising in the pic is not a turn on nor is the legs spread wide open as the spanking is administered.

Glenmore: I do enjoy pictures of a female spanker who is smiling , laughing and enjoying herself while her man has a completely opposite expression. I also like to see spanking with women wearing glasses, whether spanked or spanked.

FL: I enjoy F/M scenarios, particularly those with a maternal figure administering a classic OTK spanking with hand and/or hairbrush. I especially like seeing the women's faces, a look of strict determination as they mete out punishment. I don't need nudity or lingerie (though I am partial to full slips). 

Rob Allen: I like to see a nicely-shaped spankee enjoying it or reacting to an intense stroke, not just enduring or seeming to dread it. Any gender combination can work but I identify most with M/f.

CEM: Realism. All the websites that popped up over the years, or used to be magazines, that just hire women to spank or the mere depiction of it...not a fan. Without authenticity, it means nothing to me and can be sort of off-putting. Anything photoshopped, faked, adding redness, just bogus. There is no shortage of people in everyday real life that partake in this activity, no desire to see anything fraudulent or just for $$$.  

Graham: I prefer F/M but like some M/F. Very much like women in some form of stockings and suspenders, which I find even sexier than nude ladies. All a matter of preference!

Anon: I enjoy m/f otk, everyday clothing taken down, realistic facial expressions. 

Enzo: Our preferences are probably as unique as we all are.

I am a fan of pictures that were set up and intended to be photographs to begin with. What I mean is I prefer pictures that were intended to be printed in magazines to begin with, such as the old Janus and Blushes magazines. There is just something about those; the thought that went into the angles, and lighting and especially the story telling. I'm not such a fan of a lot of modern photos that are basically screen grabs from a video production. (No offence to those video producers as they serve a great community service). Those pictures can be great, but the photos are a secondary thought to the primary intent which is the video.

These and any well stylized photos that tell a visual story are my preference. 

Roz: I prefer more intimate, sensual pics. More extreme shots and severe marking aren't a turn on. My main preference is M/F.

KDPierre: I prefer a somewhat realistic depiction of a F/f or F/m spanking where something more stingy than a hand is used, and the marks indicate the spanking is being felt quite sincerely. If the photographer, through setting and expression, can further manage to convey an exchange that resonates with me, I am thrilled. A reversal in age is even more wonderful. 

As for what disappoints? Too mild is a yawn. M/f leaves me a bit queasy, especially if the Top is paunchy, nerdy, very old, or--god forbid--has a ponytail. If the Top looks like an operative for the Russian mob I feel physically ill. All these pictures do is make me think the poor model is a sex slave captive of some sort. Weird hair color and excessive tattooing just makes me shake my head. School scenes are another yawn. And I can't suppress a laugh if the outfits are clownish or the spankee is totally nude yet still has high heels on. Just silly. And the worst is anything that has been faked in any way. I feel that faked photos should be required by law to have a mark in the corner indicating the photo has been altered, and violators of this law should be slowly lowered into a vat of boiling oil the way they did in Medieval times. (By now I am sure that you can see I don't like MOST of what's out there. So for me, finding a good shot is like finding a four-leaf clover in a field full of cow pies.)  

Prefectdt: First, thank you for giving my second blog a much-needed push.

I like a picture that suggests a whole story, in my head. If it is well thought out, staged and properly lit, that helps a lot. It would be nice to see more professional, paid, male spanking performers both in videos and pictures. Just having people, both giving and receiving in an adult spanking scenario, because they are prepared to do it for free is not good enough. We do not expect women to do this and therefore, should not expect men to do so either. I feel that the old saying is true there "Pay peanuts and get monkeys".

Rosco: Before so much was available online, I screwed up my courage to go to the seedy neighborhood adult bookstore, bought a few magazines and was pretty disappointed.

The first picture I really adored was a small advertisement in Penthouse for Leda/NuWest shown a stern looking Julia Jameson in a short but modest skirt with a hairbrush on her lap.

As a loosely heteronormative submissive, I love seeing attractive female spankers. If it’s a male spankee, I don’t want to see too much. If it’s a female spankee, I’d often prefer to see a raised skirt than nudity - maybe it seems like a real spanking. I like to see a spanking over panties sometimes, if they’re the right kind (I much prefer nylon over cotton-go figure).

I generally like female spankers in dresses or skirts or sometimes partially clad with lingerie. Jeans don’t work. Jodhpurs can be sexy.

Above all, I like faces. The spankers can be angry or smiling and laughing. The spankees can be in pain or enjoying it. But without faces, pictures mean very little.

S: What a great question. Based on my collection,I like all types of spanking photos. I really enjoy over the knee spankings, well dressed women standing in the corner displaying spanked bottoms. I also like photos of women with their hands on their own bottoms. I also like happy smiling spankers and spankees. I also like photos of women's panties. I do not like photos of naked women with their makeup ruined from crying and I really do not like photo of bottoms that have been brutally traumatized

Dan: It's probably easier for me to specify what I don't like than all the things I do. I'm in a purely F/m dynamic, but I do like both F/m and M/f photos and artwork.. But, like K.D., I really hate pictures with paunchy, old, male spankers and young female spankees. Total turnoff. But, oddly, the F/m converse is not true. I actually like pictures with older female spankers. I gravitate strongly toward pictures or drawings where the spankee is showing real emotions and that he or she is really, really hating and struggling with the spanking, including real tears. Unfortunately, I find that real emotion seems to be displayed almost exclusively in M/f or F/f pictures and drawings. For some reason, all you see in the F/m genre is exaggerated grimacing and fake yelling.    

Hermione: I dislike total nudity of either the spanker or the spankee. Clothing from the waist up and a fully-bared bottom for the spankee, but no genitalia showing. I prefer the OTK position or else bent over a piece of furniture. No bruises or blood, just a nicely-reddened bottom. And no smiling from either party; spanking is serious business!
