Shopping in a second-hand store or thrift shop yields some amazing bargains - if you dare.
Thanks goodness for that.
Unfortunately for the men in your family, the selection isn't as good.
Tell it like it is:)

I will not be shopping at those stores. Thanks for the laugh.
Hug,
joey
The last one looks like a Frenchies (used clothing) store in Nova Scotia.
LolL, thanks Hermione. The second one really cracked me up. Have a great weekend :)
Hugs,
Roz
Oh Hermione, if you only knew! All the fun stuff happens behind the scenes.
The "ugly sweaters" thing has become a trend over the last few years. During the holidays people throw "tacky" parties where everyone dresses in ugly or wacky outfits.
Please note, fellow readers, that most thrift stores do actually have high standards for what they will sell to the public. We get everything in the world in any kind of condition, but some things you just can't put out for sale.
hm... Maybe I'll start posting some of my more amusing back room finds!
Joey - There are better places to buy lingerie.
Bogey - I've heard of those stores from a connoisseur, but have never shopped in one. I'd love to, though.
Roz - Me too. Ick!
Ms. Betty - We do that "ugly sweater" thing here too. Our Value Village does a brisk trade at Hallowe'en. It's one of my favourite places to shop. Everything is neatly arranged by size and colour, and is in reasonably good condition.
I would love to hear more about your adventures in the land of second-hand.
Hugs,
Hermione
Lol! I think I'll stick to VS for mine.. Just to be sure. Lol :)
thanks for the smile
I buy used bras, but not underwear. :)
The ugly sweaters one made me smile. :)
We have a thrift store here called "Unique" and it's the size of a walmart. :D
We have charity shops that sell second hand clothes. Really busy places.
All fails.
Thanks Hermione.
Love,
Ronnie
xx
Why would anyone want to buy used underwear? Even with four boys, I won't do the hand me down thing with their underwear.
There is a trend though, like others have said - Ugly Sweaters. We even got an ornament of an Ugly Sweater this year. Lol
Elle - That's the safest thing to do.
Terps - My pleasure!
Young Lady - "Unique" sounds great! I love places like that.
Ronnie - I've heard good things about the Oxfam shop. We have one upscale used clothing shop that only carries designer fashions.
Blondie - I've seen used undies at church rummage sales. They get snapped up quickly.
Hugs,
Hermione
Soiled and damaged?? Ewww! Come on, just throw the damn things away; who's going to buy them? (Never mind, I don't want to know.)
I love the Ugly Sweater - the others are just to toooo.
The middle pic was such a fail! It made me laugh.
Love,
Hannah
As someone who has gone to the thrift store for tacky sweater day signs like that are helpful.
Thanks for the laugh, Hermione.

Erica - I really want to believe that the soil and damage is from a flood or maybe improper stitching. Really.
Sunnygirl - The sweaters can be fun.
Hannah - I don't want to think who would buy them.
TL Bucko - They know their customers.
Bea - My pleasure.
Hugs,
Hermione
