We have no need for safewords yet but we have discussed them...we laughed about it together and decided that any ridiculous word not in context with a spanking would be our safeword ex. penguin...now it has occurred to me that in the heat of the moment I may not be in the position to think so we also said the good ol "safeword" or "code red" as a safewood would also hold true. "ouch" or "stop" would probably not be effective...cuz I say ouch with even the littlest of swats sometimes and can imagine myself staying stop without intending to... :-)
Don't forget that all participants can use a Safeword to stop play. Not crossing personal emotional or physical boundaries is an essential part of building trust.

Our safeword is eggplant because its jarring enough for him to take notice.
But personally I like to play without safewords
Terpsichore - 'Penguin', That's a good one! But you're right, it might be hard to remember a word like that.
Michelle - Yes, that would certainly get his attention.
We don't use a safeword. Ron's pretty perceptive and would immediately notice if I were in any real distress.
Hugs,
Hermione

Oops forgot to mention our safeword 42 for just us, when playing with others we use colors, green, yellow red
Rio - I had never thought about a safeword being used by a top. That's an interesting concept.

Hermione
I just yell ouch thats enough thats enough, then my partner starts giggling
The 'traffic lights' is always a good way to introduce a safeword that way you also get a way to get it a bit harder if you want to.
Hugs
