We have been inundated with the white stuff this week. While waiting for the snow to stop, I've been working on a volunteer project, so no time for blogging. Then the blizzard passed and we were out all day yesterday, shoveling and praying that the city plow wouldn't drive by and block our driveway with any more snow.
But I still love Canada.

What? You live in snow country and don't have a snow blower?????
20+ years ago I gave one as a Christmas gift to my family as I thought they were getting FAR too old to be shoveling that white hell. Nice, expensive, and thoughtful gift, right?
They HATED IT!
Sometime shortly after New Year's, they get hit with 18" of the white hell. Got out the blower and - done in 20-minutes! One person. And that includes getting it in and out of the garage and figuring out how to start/stop it.
Turned out to be a pretty good gift after all!
We had a bit of a snow, not as much as you, I guess. In our heck of the woods the city plows are not allowed to block the driveways, for each driveway they lower and turn that thingy to keep the driveway entrance clear. Of course, the plow has to go much slower.

We rarely get snow in winter in our part of the country, and usually mostly in the hill suburbs. Other parts of country do though.

The snow plow comes around the corner and ours is the first driveway, so we get a big dump of snow, while the rest of the block gets little additional from the plow.
We actually DO have a snow blower, but it is electric. It is not as powerful and can't do soft, wet snow, or really deep (which is what we just had). We don't want a gas-powered one because they are the devil to start.
