Meet Patrick, the interactive bum

Last Friday evening as I was driving home I was listening to As It Happens, a current events program on CBC Radio 1. The host was interviewing a U. S. professor who had developed an interactive butt.

My ears perked up at that, and I immediately thought of its use in spanking research. Could it be? But no, the purpose was strictly utilitarian. The interactive bottom, named Patrick, was invented to help teach medical students to perform prostate exams.

"The simulator itself is a piece of plastic and around the anus area is a foam, rubbery material. It's anatomically correct, and inside, they have placed a prostate so that they can actually feel what a prostate would feel like."

So there are no firm, rounded buttocks on Patrick. Pity. But the simulator does have another purpose. Before the actual physical examination, students start using the simulator to work on their beside manner.

"Students have to talk to Patrick for about five to eight minutes," the University of Florida professor said. "They work on their social skills. They try to obtain a patient history, but also have to work through anxiety that Patrick's having."

Still, there might be an application for spanking after all. Potential spankers could try to convince Patrick that he really needs a good spanking.

Here's a short clip about the interactive bum.

Patrick's physique leaves something to be desired from an aesthetic point of view. It would be so much nicer if the butt looked spankable. Oh, wait, the Japanese have already invented that. It's Shiri.

I'm not a robot!

You have probably noticed that when you leave a comment on my blog, you need to prove you aren't a robot. Why would I think you are? Well, I don't. That message has nothing to do with me. It's something that Blogger has implemented without my permission. I don't want it there, and there is nothing I can do about it. But it's not so bad.

When you see the box you are supposed to check to prove you are human, you don't always need to check it. As you can see in the above image, I am logged on to Blogger as Hermione. So all I have to do is click on Publish Your Comment, without clicking on the robot box, and my comment will be published.

But, for those of you who prefer to remain anonymous (and that's perfectly okay with me), you will have to pass the robot test.

In this case, I have chosen not to use my Hermione identity, but want to leave an anonymous comment. I can't publish my comment without proving I'm not made of metal. So the next step is to read the instructions and choose the appropriate pictures of a sandwich.

The same applies to anyone who chooses OpenID (WordPress, for example). You can't escape the robot test.

So, if you are logged on to Blogger or to your Google account, you don't need to prove you aren't a robot. Otherwise, there's an extra hoop to jump through. Sorry about that! At least it's better to the mostly unreadable word and number Captchas they previously insisted on.

You Completed the Caption

Your clever captions were the perfect antidote to a stressful week in the spanking blogosphere. Here's what you said:

Six of the best: In years of old, when knights were bold. They spanked the ladies hot, when cold.

Underling: 'My name is C-3PO, ma'am, protocol and discipline droid. I am fluent in over six million forms of communication... and thirteen implements!'

Sunnygirl: C3PO couldn't resist the charms of Princess Leia and her charming braids.

DelFonte: Just remember C3PO, you have the buns of steel not me!

Sassafrass: When Hans is away the princess will play!

Welcome, Sassafrass!

Rednakedy: Yes, Ma'am, I am a fully functioning battery operated device. Why do you ask?

Welcome, Rednakedy!

Fiona: Thank you Sir, May I have I another?

Ronnie: Princess Leia couldn't get the hang of the moonwalk dance no matter how many times C-3PO showed her.

Sir Wendel Jones: Princess Leia: Want to try a threesome with a Wookie?

TL Bucko: When I said I wanted something battery operated for the bedroom, Han, this wasn't what I had in mind. Though still not as awkward as kissing my brother.

(Maybe Han likes to watch.)

Kingspan: "I say, Princess, what about a little role play to spice things up. How about Master/Slave?"
"Sorry, C3PO. Too many memories of Jabba."
"Quite. What about Prisoner/Warden?"
"No thank you. My interrogation on the Death Star was plenty for me."
"I see. Perhaps Daddy/Daughter?"
"Seriously? You don't see the problem with that one?"
R2D2: "I suggest a new strategy. Let the Princess top."

Tim: "But Mistress, a request to spank you violate the laws of robotics!"

1.A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2.A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

Bonnie: "Princess Leia, I must tell you that I was so impressed with your brass bikini scene. Would you be so kind as to re-enact it with me?"

Hermione: Dorothy's relationship with the Tin Man ended shortly after she gave birth to a six pack.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive week, and I invite you to return next weekend for some more caption fun. If you can, please drop by tomorrow for a special celebration.

You Completed the Caption

It takes all kinds! Here's what you wrote:

Simon: "When I said, wear some protection, that wasn't exactly what I had in mind."

Ricky: Oh, Tinny, my heart is yours forever!

Six of the best: "I said I need a can opener, not a tan over my knees."

Lillie: Early prototype for the Hitachi Magic Wand.

Red: You can be so cold at times...

Ian: There are some troubling side effects to Viagra abuse.

Ronnie: Tin man knew he shouldn't have strayed off the Yellow Brick Road.
(Groan, bad I know but couldn't think of anything else.)

Not bad; in fact, very funny!

Sunnygirl: He couldn't wait to get to the heart of the matter.

Kingspan: Remember, the safeword is "Klaatu barada nikto".

Bonnie: "Magneto said he kept his bucket list in his head."

TL Bucko: When that moment of bliss washed over her Dorothy knew she wasn't in Kansas anymore.

Sir Qs mlb: Oh dear, I knew you were rusty, but I didn't think it would fall off!!

Prefectdt: She says "Now that's my idea of a whole can of whup ass."

Michael:
Alien robot: "Take me to your leader."
Naked woman: "Nuh uh, big boy. First I'm taking you to my bedroom. You're packin' iron."

Young Lady: Dorothy hoped to make the tin man "loosen up"

Sir Wendel Jones: My turn next on the spanking machine.

Lea: Al took the jokes of being a Robotop for his unstoppable arm quite literally at the next party.

1manview: Yea, after you spank me really hard, I'm finally going to get some real hard as steel between my legs...

Bob: I 'll rub yours if you will rub mine.

Vfrat25000:
Somebody go get Petunia off the Tin Man and have her get dressed. We are going to get kicked out of the Wizard of Oz Museum.

Herman, I don’t think you love me anymore. You feel cold as steel.
Put your glasses on Betty. I am over here. You are fondling the neighbor’s Halloween decoration

A great idea for costume party George, I am freezing my butt off as Lady Godiva and you are about to have a heat stroke as the Tin Man. Next year back to Little Bo Peep and Superman
Helen quit nagging and help me get these steel pants off I have to go pee.

Mable, I think you might be right. The Reverend Fortner and his Secretary might not be just talking church business.

Ami Starsong: Tinman remarked to Dorothy "Bring the oil can, or you'll get a rusty screw!"

(Starman's comment!) PS He loves your 'Complete the Caption' every weekend!

Why thank you, Starman!

Hermione: "Danger! Danger, Will Robinson! Er...never mind.

Thank you to all who contributed. And if you didn't, there's always next week.

Now that's something you don't see every day. At least not where I live. But then, Canadians are pretty conservative.

The sky's the limit. Let your imagination run wild as you complete the caption. Leave me yours in a comment, and I will publish your ideas and speculations in the next post.

Spank that Robot

From time to time we see various machines that are designed to spank humans. Now the tables are turned. Reuters News reports that a Japanese inventor has created a robot that responds to spanking.

Nobuhiro Takahashi called his creation "Shiri" which means "butt" in Japanese. Shiri responds with different emotions to different human touches.

The inventor hopes to use the prototype to develop responses that can be applied to other parts of a robot's body, in particular the face, to help with non-verbal communication. He decided to develop his technology with a bottom because its movements are large and make it easier to convey emotion.
"I wanted to try and use a butt to reflect emotions - fear, joy and relaxation," he explained.

To get a robot to show fear, Takahashi spanks it.
"Fear is a very human - very living - emotion, so it's expressed with force, with a spank." The robot bottom responds by quivering. A slow wobble is the sign for relaxation, while a gentle stroke causes clenches that signal pleasure.
See for yourself.  It's pretty amazing!
