20/20

My eyes have both been repaired now, and wow! What a difference it has made. I can see perfectly without glasses for the first time since I was eight years old. I'll still need them for reading but I'm fine with that.

Thanks to our provincial health care, everything was free - visits to the surgeon and technicians, the surgery itself, followup appointments, even the sedative used during the procedure. ("Go ahead and have it," the anaesthesiologist told me. "It's free.") I only paid a small part of the total cost for three different eye drops and an upgrade in the lenses inserted into my eyes, because I wanted the best kind available.

Both times I was told after the procedure that I had done well. I suppose they say that to everyone, but really, what choice did I have? Lying on a stretcher, face covered, heart monitor leads stuck to my chest, a blood pressure cuff around my left arm and a nurse holding my right hand - I wasn't going anywhere. But when I questioned the surgeon, she said that that some people simply couldn't keep still. Little did she know that I was used to holding the position I was told to assume, and not move until I was told I could:)

It is great to hear that your procedures where such a success and your vision is so clear. It is a shame that you will no longer have an excuse to wear glasses on a regular basis any more. But perhaps that's only me ;)

I did not realize that laser surgery(? is that what you had) was free!!! I HATE wearing glasses..... might be something to look into.........

Glad your surgery worked so well... :)

Hi Hermione, I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well and has been successful, that is fantastic news. You won't know yourself!

Dad had surgery on one eye (thankfully only one eye) for glaucoma to release the pressure and it failed and left him way worse off vision wisecthsn prior to the surgery. Interestingly though, he has since had laser surgery instead in the other eye which was successful. If only theybhad done that in the first place!

Good news. I had cataracts a decade ago. One eye went from -7 to -350 and the last one I asked for perfect vision. so after over 40 years of wearing glasses, one eye was perfect and the other not bad. I know how it feels and it is a great thing. But that doesn't stop the need for spankings and I am wishing you a red bottom soon. Happy Friday.

Barrel - It was a long wait, and I'm very happy it's finally been done.

Anon - I hope so too!

Ronnie - I'm glad it's over too.

KDPierre - I enjoy it every time I wake up and realize I can see clearly.'

Erica - Maybe that's why I had to wait so long.

Prefectdt - I intend to get prescription glasses (progressive lenses) so I can easily read or use the computer without needing to put on drugstore reading glasses.

Morningstar - No, it wasn't laser surgery. That would cost around $7000 - $8000 and not available where I live. This was cataract surgery done with ultrasound.

PK - You'll know when it's time.

Joe - So am I.

Roz - Laser surgery is amazing, but expensive.

Baxter - My greatest fear was that the hospital would cancel elective surgery before the second eye was done. Thankfully that didn't happen.

Rosco - They are sweet, aren't they!

Hermione

Hermione,

I had that surgery in both eyes in 2018. I too am very pleased with the results.

Enjoy!
