Our Friend is Back

Our good friend and blogger Jean Marie is back with a new blog on Substack. Do you call it a blog if it's on Substack? No matter, she's back with many stories about spanking and life.

I hope you will drop in and wish her well. You won't be disappointed.

Look Who's Back

I have some great news for you. After a well-earned vacation and some world travelling, our very good friend Red is back. His new blog is "Fun Thoughts on The Thing We Do". It's a must read for fans of spanking, and yes, Cindy still wields the paddle very effectively.

Do drop in to read his latest posts and leave a comment. You will receive a warm welcome!

Farewell, Dear Friend

Another blog has bitten the dust. Our good friend and regular blogger Prefectdt has lost his blog. I thought Blogger was the only platform that unexplainedly wiped blogs from the interwebs. But no, it seems Wordpress does the same. His blog with links to all other spanking blogs is still operational here.

You can still visit the archive of Spankedhortic II -- 14 years in all, that's quite a record -- in the Wayback Machine. I hope that someday a new blog called Spankedhortic III will arise from the ashes. In the meantime, there's always a home for you here.

We'll miss you, Prefectdt.

KDPierre has left the building

Another blogger has silently departed the blogosphere. KDPierre, a regular brunch guest and prolific blogger, has closed his blog, Collected Submissions

I'm very sorry to see him go. KDPierre's blog posts were thought-provoking, and he encouraged lively dialogue which, I'm afraid, didn't happen as much as he would have hoped. He often expressed frustration at this, which might be the reason for his departure.

But all is not lost. You can still enjoy KDPierre's stories at the Library of Spanking Fiction.

Farewell, my friend.

There's a new blogger in the 'hood

Butt Stuff

One of my most enthusiastic brunch attendees has started a blog of her own. Jeanie now writes as Jean Marie, and her blog, Butt Stuff, is a treasure trove of her thoughts, feelings, and reminiscences about spanking.

Do drop by and give her a warm welcome to the blogging world.

No More Consensual Spanking

I'm sorry to have to tell you that Red Often's blog Consensual Spanking is gone for good. Last week Google removed it because somehow a virus from Red's computer got attached to a post he uploaded. Since then, the blog has been reviewed and it seems Red violated Google's terms of service, so they will not restore his blog.

As some of you may already know, Red had been planning to close his blog, although the decision of exactly when was taken out of his hands. Red is enjoying his extra free time and wishes you all a warm "Bottoms Up!"

We will miss you, Red.

Felicia Nemo recently began her Story A Month project. She started off the month with a post containing one sentence. Her readers are invited to each leave a comment containing one sentence only to add to the story. At the end of the month, Felicia will publish the complete story.

So what are you waiting for? Here is this month's story, and here are the rules. Have fun!

Come Follow Me

For most of us on Blogger, it is a real source of pleasure to view our blog and see the number of followers we have. The Followers gadget is a handy way for readers to tell a blogger that they like his or her blog and want to keep up with the latest posts. Besides having the reader's picture appear as a follower, the blog is automatically added to the reader's reading list (if the reader is also on Blogger) and to the reader's Google Reader. It has benefits for the blogger too. A blogger can click on the picture of any follower, find and follow that person's blog, and form a new friendship.

All this is made possible by a feature known as Google Friend Connect. Here's what mine looks like. You can also see it in the sidebar on the right.

At one time, every new blog created in Blogger automatically included this gadget, so it was easy to attract followers. But times have changed. Google+ has replaced Google Friend Connect, and GFC is slowly being phased out. It often doesn't work properly, and the Google engineers aren't too concerned about fixing the glitches. Still, it's a very handy gadget, and an excellent alternative for those of us who don't want to use Google+. The replacement gadget - Google+ Followers - is only for Google+ accounts, and many of us don't want to make the switch to Google+.

So why don't new bloggers (or old bloggers with new blogs) simply add the gadget themselves?

Good question. The answer is, it's hard to find. In an attempt to force people to use Google+ Followers instead, the clever engineers have made it seem that the old Followers gadget is no longer an option. You may go to your layout, click Add a Gadget, and come up empty-handed. But don't despair. If you promise not to tell Google that you heard it here, I'll let you in on the secret.

When you try to add a gadget, and scroll through all the possible gadgets, you won't see Followers. But if you click on More Gadgets in the upper left, guess what?

You will see another long list of even more available gadgets, and Followers is at the very bottom of the list. Voila! Now all you have to do is select it, and it will be added to your blog layout. Save the layout and you're done!

Now sit back and watch the number of your followers increase each day. It works for both Google+ and regular Google, as well as Yahoo, Twitter, OpenID, Netlog and AIM accounts.

For a Dom across the sea

Blogs written by male Doms are few and far between in the blogsphere, so I was pleasantly surprised when I started visiting New Life in DD by a charming gentleman called Bas. I always enjoy hearing a Top's point of view on the subject of spanking. While I know from personal experience what bottoms get out of the experience, I regularly wonder what's in it for them. In his posts, Bas makes clear the benefits that both he and his wife derive from their DD lifestyle.

My favourite post is one called One Man, Four Women and Morning Maintenance. In it, Bas describes a day out with four lovely ladies, and it's a perfect example of his eloquence and humour.

Speaking of humour, I look forward to reading his comments on my blog. He manages to see things from a unique perspective and writes with both wit and wisdom.

To Bas himself, I have these words of encouragement:

Warm hugs,
Hermione

Thanks a Million!

This blog has now had one million page views, and you are the people who made it happen. As a matter of interest, the one millionth visitor was from Germany, and arrived here via Chross.

In the three and a half years that Hermione's Heart has been in existence, we've laughed together more often than we've cried together, and that's the way I like it. I'm glad that so many of you return day after day for the lighthearted approach to spanking that I strive for here. There have been a few serious posts, and there will be more in the future, but my main aim is for good, clean (well, maybe not so clean sometimes) fun as it relates to spanking.

Here's to the next million hits, and to you, my loyal readers.

Spanking Rocks

Last week, Bogie of Our Bottoms Burn said "I think Hermione could find spanking in a rock." And he was right!

Take a look at these rock formations and tell me what they make you think of.

Yes, I know the last one isn't a rock. I can find spanking in potatoes too!

A Wiki Quickie

If you can't get enough of spanking pictures, stories and blogs and need to have more, more, more, then the Spanking Art Wiki is the place for you. Besides pictures and stories, there are little-known facts, an image of the month, a list of recent changes, and hundreds and hundreds of pages about spanking.

The part of the wiki that I am most interested in is the Spanking Blog Wiki. All known spanking bloggers, both past and present, are recorded there. Bonnie keeps it up to date as new blogs come to her attention, and she writes a brief, informative and personalized description of each blog. I give her a hand with the more mundane tasks, but sometimes she has to make some... er, adjustments.

Luckily, this doesn't happen too often!

No blogs are ever removed from the wiki. Here's the place to come if you wonder whatever became of a favourite blog.

Do drop in sometime when you have an hour or two to spare. It's time well wasted!

What an Honour

I am truly touched. The Spanking Bloggers Network has nominated Hermione's Heart as their blog of the month. Thank you!

In case you haven't heard of it, the Spanking Bloggers Network is a group of bloggers who write about - you guessed it - spanking. The title, picture, and teaser from the latest post on each blog is displayed, so one trip to the SBN will give you access to fifty spanking blogs.

Be sure and pay them a visit soon, and find out how you can join. New members are always welcome.

Thanks a Half-Million!

I can't believe it! My blog counter just topped the half-million mark. That's a lot of page hits!

I can't take all the credit for it. My
faithful and persistent readers who keep coming back day after day are the ones behind this. You are the reason I keep on blogging. What would I do without you?

Thank you all for helping Hermione's Heart to keep on beating.

O, to be in England

Now that April's there.

Not only do they have fields of golden daffodils at least two months before we do, and no unexpected April snowstorms like the one we had last week. They also have a television program called Britain's Got Talent.

I first heard of that show when Susan Boyle burst onto the scene. And now it's come to the forefront again. New blogger Uncle Nick Ursdown (say that five times quickly) announced last week that one of the acts scheduled to appear would be a couple who combines spanking and reading Shakespeare.

Spanking in a mainstream entertainment show? Yes, really! Watch it here on
Memories of a Strict Uncle.

Naughty Blogger

I realized that my blog had some technical difficulties when I tried to respond to comments on yesterday's post.

"Page Not Found" was the response I got from Blogger. Nobody could leave comments on any of my posts, including me. A quick search on Blogger Help told me that other folks are also having comment problems.

I solved my dilemma by changing the way comments are displayed, from a popup window to a full page. That cured the problem, and you may now feel free to leave comments if you are so inclined.

(For any of you who are also experiencing problems, the change I made was made by going to Dashboard, Settings, Comments tab, then choosing Full Page for Comments Form Placement.)

First Prize from Recidavist

Before he took a summer break from blogging, Recidavist sponsored a quiz. He invited his readers to vote on who they thought deserved a good spanking. I entered the contest and jokingly nominated my alter ego, Hermione Granger.

Now Recidavist has resumed blogging, and announced that I was the lucky (or unlucky) winner of the contest. This is what I won:

Ron didn't wait till bedtime to deal with me. This letter arrived on Sunday, so he took advantage of our regular spanking date.

He was kind enough to ask me what implement I wanted. From my position at the foot of the bed, I looked up and saw my friend the dogging bat hanging from the bedpost, so I said, "The one on top." Ron walked to the head of the bed and returned carrying not the dogging bat but Black Beauty, the black leather strap. Oops. I hadn't seen it hiding behind the bedpost.

It was too late to protest. The strap connected solidly with my cheeks in rapid succession. Ow! This was no fun; it hurt! I seriously considered asking Ron to stop, or maybe squirming out of position, but told myself firmly that I would start to enjoy it any minute now.

After a sound paddling and some very nice stroking, Ron decided to take advantage of my position in another way. But it seemed that my body wasn't ready yet, and he was having difficulty.

"You need some lube," I suggested.

"Right." But instead of going to the drawer for a tube of lubricating gel, he resumed his swats to my posterior.

"Ow! That's not what I meant!" I buried my face in the blankets as he did his best to get my body into a more
cooperative state. That's when I got the giggles. The whole situation struck me as being a funny misunderstanding and I laughed and squeaked as the leather strap continued to do its work.

When Ron finally stopped, my bottom was hot and tingling, and other areas were also more than ready for his renewed attempt. By the end of the afternoon, we both felt that we had won first prize.
