My husband and I spent a few days in Arras, France, recently. We visited the Canadian War Memorial at Vimy while we were there and were shocked to read that over 60,000 Canadians lost their lives in the 1914-18 conflict. The memorial is stunning, a fitting tribute to all those brave people. The monument is engraved with the names of more than 11,000 fighters whose final resting places are not known.
I was in Asda this morning, the U.K. subsidiary of Walmart, and was gratified that the two minutes silence was observed there.
