We Love our Lurkers!

It's here! That day we've been waiting for all year long has finally arrived! No, not Christmas, it's Love our Lurkers Day. Well, "Days" actually, because we celebrate our lurkers over a two-day period in order to give everyone a chance to participate. The tradition was started by Bonnie, the queen of spanking bloggers, a dozen years ago, and it's been going strong ever since.

If you are a silent reader who has never dared to leave a comment, now is your chance. We know you're out there, so don't be shy! You are among friends here. You may remain anonymous if you wish, or use a pen name. What should you say? That's entirely up to you.  "Hello" is fine. Or tell me what country you live in. I know I have readers in most of the countries in the world.

We Felt the Love

Another Love Our Lurkers celebration has come and gone, and I must say it was a bigger success than I dared hope! We had some new bloggers join us for the first time, and that's always such a thrill for me. Most participants recorded a healthy number of comments from both old friends and no-longer-shy lurkers.

What do you say? Shall we do it again next year? Your comments, suggestions and concerns are always welcome.

Love Our Lurkers Days are coming up at the end of this week, and I want you to participate. It's the time when our silent readers are encouraged to come out of hiding and leave a comment. The details are in this post.

It's Coming - Tell Your Friends!

The eleventh Love Our Lurkers celebration is coming once more to a blog near you. Once a year all bloggers join forces and encourage their silent readers to come out of hiding and introduce themselves. Our dear friend Bonnie started the idea eleven years ago and it's been going strong ever since.

What is it? Lurkers, anonymous readers, call them what you will. They are the people who read our blogs on a regular or occasional basis, but never leave a comment. On LOL Days, we encourage those people to be brave and leave a comment. Most blogs allow commenters to remain anonymous, so you never have to reveal your real identity.

Where is it? It's everywhere, but right here on this blog, I will put up a post and record the links to all bloggers who are participating in LOL Days. If you want to see who has joined in the fun, drop by here and you will see the list.

When is it? Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19.

What do I have to do? If you are a blogger, publish a post on November 18, encouraging your silent readers to leave a comment. "Love Our Lurkers" in the title will be helpful but not compulsory.


What do I say? Some bloggers ask questions for their lurkers to answer. Others have competitions, with a spank for every comment left. Still others only want all their readers to say hello. The important thing is to be friendly and encouraging to readers who might be apprehensive about leaving a comment. Please remember to allow anonymous comments, even if only for a day or two.

How can I help right now? This year we want to get the word out to as many bloggers as possible to make this celebration even bigger and better. So I invite you to post an advance LOL Days announcement soon and include a link to this post, so that all your readers know about it too. Not all bloggers read this blog, and we want to be sure nobody is left out.

LOL 10 is coming

Love Our Lurkers 10 is just days away. To help you prepare your post, I have made some images for you to choose from. The backgrounds are all transparent so they should work with any blog. You may, of course, use any other image you like.

For Windows users, right-click on the image you prefer, then choose Save Image As... Save the image to your hard drive. Then upload it to your LOL Days post.

For Mac users...sorry, you're on your own. You probably know how to save an image anyway, right?

That's right! This year will be the tenth time we have celebrated Love Our Lurkers. For those of you who are new here, once a year all bloggers get together and encourage their silent readers to come out of hiding and introduce themselves. Why two days?  This is a change that happened last year. We bloggers are located all over the world, and our time zones are vastly different. When LOL was on a single day, it was nearly over for some before others had even started. Bonnie, bless her, would stay up all night adding blogs to the list on her LOL post as other bloggers published their LOL posts. I don't have the stamina for that, so I might be lagging behind at the start. But I will catch up eventually, even if it takes two days!

What do I have to do? If you are a blogger, publish a post on November 12, encouraging your silent readers to leave a comment. "Love Our Lurkers" in the title will be helpful but not compulsory.

In a few days I will post some images that you can choose from for your LOL Days post. Or you can use your own. The choice is yours.

Love Our Lurkers Days Wrap Up

Another Love Our Lurkers celebration has come and gone. How did we do? The numbers aren't as impressive as they were in former years, but that was to be expected with the change of venue. Still, I'm very pleased with the outcome. Some of you created a separate post for each of the two days, and I included comments from both days.

So here are the statistics (drum roll please)

Thank you once again to everyone who participated, whether by blogging, commenting, de-lurking, or silently watching and saying to themselves, "Next year I promise I will stop being a lurker and reveal myself".

It's only 11 1/2 months until Love Our Lurkers 10.

LOL Days are coming

It's nearly time! In just seven days we will once again be Loving Our Lurkers. On November 12-13 all bloggers will be asking their silent readers to come out of the shadows and say hello.

The rules are simple. Compose a Love Our Lurkers post, inviting your lurkers to leave a comment. You can have some fun by asking a question or two that they can answer, or you could simply tell them to say "Hi". It will help if you allow anonymous comments for the day.

I will be maintaining an ongoing LOL Days post with a list of all participating blogs. When you publish your post, let me know the post's URL by email (click on the Canadian flag in the sidebar) and I will add your blog. I'll post a reminder the day before.

To help you prepare your LOL post, here are some images you may like to use. The backgrounds are transparent so they will work on any blog. Or if you prefer, use one of your own.

Love Our Lurkers Days are coming soon!

You read it right. That's not a typo. This year we are celebrating our ninth annual Love Our Lurkers day over a two-day period. The official dates are:

November 12-13, 2014

Because readers from all over the globe join in the big Love Our Lurkers celebration, a single LOL day ends for bloggers in Australia and New Zealand before it has begun for those of us in North America.  I don't want anyone to think they have missed LOL day and feel they are too late to participate. It's never too late to welcome the silent readers of your blog, or to come out of the shadows if you are a lurker yourself. This year you will have even more time to do it.


For those of you who are new to blogland, Love Our Lurkers is a day when we each publish a post encouraging readers to leave comments on blogs that they usually don't comment on. Most of us have far more readers than commenters, and this gives our silent readers or lurkers a chance to speak.Our dear friend Bonnie came up with the idea of loving our lurkers, and headed up LOL day command central for eight years. Now I have taken over the responsibility and I only hope I can do half as good a job as she did.

In past years some people have written encouraging posts, others invite their readers to answer specific questions, and some even have contests involving spanking and the number of comments received. It's up to you to make your LOL Day post special in your own way.

Please advertise Love Our Lurkers Days on your blog, tell your friends, and make sure everyone knows about it. I'm counting on you all to spread the word. Let's make this year's LOL celebration the biggest and best one ever!

Love Our Lurkers VIII

For the eighth year running, we spanking bloggers invite all our silent readers to come out of the shadows and leave a comment. Thanks to Bonnie at My Bottom Smarts, the spanko community has united in its efforts to encourage our shy lurkers to speak up.

All blogs have more visitors than commenters. Each and every one of us started out as a silent reader. We know you're out there, reading and enjoying, and maybe wishing you could be part of the fun. Every day, hundreds of readers visit Hermione's Heart, yet only a small number of them leave a comment. I wish I could get to know each one of you a little better. If you have never left a comment before, why not do it now? You don't need a logon ID or a Blogger account; you can choose the anonymous option.

Everyone starts out as a lurker. It can take days, weeks or even months to feel comfortable enough to leave a comment on a blog. Sometimes it seems like the other people who leave comments are all friends who know each other and outsiders' comments aren't welcome. That's not the case here or on most blogs. I love to hear from newcomers, and you'll soon feel right at home.

Don't  know what to say? Hello is fine. If you like, you can say what country you live in, or what you most recently had to eat or drink. If you feel like talking about TTWD (That is why you're here, isn't it?) then how long ago was your last spanking?
