What was the penalty if she failed to follow his rules, a spanking with his slide rule? Read the full article, including the complete list of rules Mrs E had to follow, here.
For those of you under 30, this is a slide rule - think of it as a portable calculator that didn't require batteries.
And the final word is Einstein's...sort of

You always find such interesting things to share. Picture of the slide rule reminded me of the time my husband took his (old one) to the office to show the 'young kids'. They had been joking around the day before about how awful it must have been figuring complex math before calculators. They had never heard of a 'slip stick' and were astonished at its use.
Thanks
Joyce
I was just thinking the other day what I did with my old slide rule, and I wonder if my genius son has ever heard of one.
I read that book on Einstein three or four years ago,and I recall his marriage did not work out, but I don't recall his little list.
As a firmly ensconced HOH, I can tell you this would never work--there must be mutuality.
Joyce - I'm glad yo enjoyed it.
The kids must have been scratching their heads over his moveable ruler.
Mick - That's why I called it a fail. It was so one-sided.

Hermione
Hermione,
Very interesting and worthy of a Friday Fail. I am glad that his wife divorced him rather than live by his rules.
Thank you for sharing,
Hug,
joey
PS I owned and used a slide rule in HS.
Absolutely a fail! Einstein wasn't so hot in the personal department.
Love,
Kitty
It's a wonder she didn't leave him before he set the rules. Of course she probably didn't know he had married someone else while still married to her.
Haven't seen a slide rule for yonks.
Thanks Hermione.
Love,
Ronnie

Good Post. AE was a failure as an HOH. He was brilliant but defintely not husband material. Sounded like a bully to me.
My hubby and I often comment that young people today couldn't function without gadgets or electricity. What a shame.
I am amazed anyone ever knew about his slide rule. Had I been married to Einstein, I would have shoved it up his backside and it would never have been seen again.... lol xxxxx
Very interesting! I still have a slide rule around somewhere, maybe I could put it to use again?
Wow!
I'd read before that Einstein may have suffered from Asperger's Syndrome. That kind of rigidity and fear of intimacy is definitely a characteristic.
Or, he simply could have been a misogynistic ass.
Slide rule, eh?
e=mc(x2)?
Joey - I'm glad she did too.
Kitty - Smart in some ways, but in others...
Ronnie - She couldn't have known, poor woman.
Sunnygirl - True. Some can't even tell time on an analog clock.
Daisy - I wonder when slide rules were invented.
Spanky - There's an idea whose time has come:)
Erica - Probably a bit of each.
Ricky - LOL!
Hugs,
Hermione
That was a fascinating read. Thank you. :)
interesting... maybe he killed too many brain cells in his discoveries...
