I'm doing some editing work at the moment so my mind is on grammar this week. One thing that really annoys me is seeing unnecessary quotation marks around words or phrases. You use quotes when you are writing the exact words a person said, or if you are trying to be ironic. Using quotes inappropriately shows that you don't really mean what you are saying, but are implying something else.
Hands is a euphemism for what exactly?
Yeah, sure I do

(Laughing) I recently watched the Austin Powers movies again, so I kept envisioning Dr. Evil air quoting everything. Thanks for the laughs!
LoL Hermoine, love the last two.

Definitely all fails, even if some of them made me giggle.
Gosh, now I am nervous that I have been guilty of the quotation mark emphasis! Lol....
Funny though!
Hermione,
Funny. Thanks. Last two are my favourites.
Love,

I'm guilty - I've used quotation marks too often for the wrong reason as well - but I 'thought' it helped what I 'wrote' to 'sound' right, lol.
These all made me laugh - Thanks!
Unfortunately I may be guilty of the unnecessary quotation marks in my story telling.
The last one is my favorite!
Looks like he is sleeping on the job so perhaps the reason for the implied title.
The quotes get to be a bit much, I agree.
Isn't editing fun? Two gems in a recent project: a high-bred car (for hybrid) and safety googles. (I believe she meant "goggles" -- from what I've seen, Google isn't much concerned with our safety.)
Thanks Hermione...yup, definitely all fails but still funny.
Hugs and Blessings...

Fails...quotation marks and commas...always over used.

"Lol"
I'm glad you all enjoyed them. There are plenty more where they came from.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Hugs,

lmao at the pizza one.
These are great. You would think professional sign makers would be aware of proper spelling and punctuation, but you have proven several times over that's not always the case. I've wondered several times lately if publishers use real people as editors or if they are using computer programs, due to mistakes in spelling, word substitution and the like.
