Outlander Season 2

Last year at about this time we were all eagerly watching the new television show Outlander, based on the book by Diana Gabaldon. Or more specifically, we were all anxiously awaiting the spanking scene, which I reproduced here. In reality, there were several spanking scenes described in the book, and it was a pretty good read, albeit unbelievable and a bit long-winded in places.

Now we are into season two, and the show isn't quite as gripping. The first episode began with Claire having somehow returned to the present, trying to adjust to life in the 1940s, and ended with her back in the past with Jamie as they step off the ship in France.

The theme of this season is to try to deter Bonnie Prince Charlie from returning to Scotland, thus preventing the disastrous battle of Culloden that the Jacobites would lose. Frankly, I am not enjoying season two as much as I had hoped. It seems tedious and less interesting than season one, and even less believable, if that can be possible. So I wonder if there is any point in continuing to watch the series.

What about you? How do you feel about the show now? For those of you who have read the books, is there any more spanking in any of them, or did Gabaldon exhaust her repertoire for corporal punishment in the first book?

Hermione, it always seems to be on my list but one of those books and tv shows I never get around to, so I can't give you an opinion.

I agree with you that it has almost completely lost my interest, except seeing a snippet that might involve spanking. The story has devolved into every form of sexual activity, so little remains except a threesome with both of her husbands... :)

I just watched episode 5 and literally just started episode 6 when I opened your page. I was a bit confused for a minute to see Claire and Jamie on the wrong screen ;)
I haven't read the books so far. I know my mom has, but I am reluctant to ask her whether there is more spanking in the books.
I agree that this season is less interesting than the first.
Also, I think there are not nearly enough men in kilts in this season.

I agree, not as good as the first. It's well made, a great production, but it lacks the excitement of the first. It improves a little with the arrival of Jack Randall. I prefer the Scottish setting and the outdoor scenes. I'll carry on watching.

Hmmm ... I haven't read the books or watched the show. Maybe I'll have to change that. ;)

I am enjoying the show and love the books. I think Diana Galbadon develops greatcharacters. They are relateabl, I care about what happens to them and would like to have many of them over for dinner. There is only one other spanking of an adult and some corporal punishment of children, nothing else like The Spanking Scene.

Leigh - The books are very fat and with endless pages of description. I'd prefer the Coles Notes version of them.

Ronnie - You aren't missing anything.

Red - A threesome - what a good idea! I wouldn't put it past her.

Nena - My daughter-in-law is currently reading Dragonfly in Amber (the second book) and I was tempted to ask about spanking, but refrained.

DelFonte - I've heard that they soon return to Scotland, so I'm looking forward to more kilts.

Lilli - You'll need to suspend your disbelief. The premise of the show is time travel - silly to me.

E. Lurker - Only one adult spanking? In which book? I have the 5th and 6th ones, I think.

Hugs,
Hermione

"Voyager" has a an adult getting spanked but it's very different from the one with Jamie and Claire. There is also a discussion of a sexual spanking in "A Breath of Snow and Ashes".

Once in a while, my satellite TV provider will give us a free weekend of some of the premium channels so I was able to watch a marathon of Season 1 but I don't normally get Starz so can't watch Season 2. Jamie is adorable but really don't see too much chemistry between him and Claire. Haven't read the books...have way to many on my TBR stack as it is. ;)

Hugs and blessings...Cat
