This is the paint stirrer that I have known and
Now I find out that the wooden paint stirrer is old technology, as outdated as an eight-track cassette. Here's what modern decorators and spankers are using:

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't think I'd like the modern version. Have you tried one? Meow
While I a guilty of pointing out the progression of technology, I like you and Meow, embrace the old-fashioned version as well. I have always had an affection for wooden implements; clothes-pins rather than clamps, wooden kitchen spoons, broom sticks for spreader bars, etc.
For whatever it is worth, I also prefer the old wooden paint stirrer..(although I do tend to call them the dreaded 'pain sticks')..over the newer ones. But then again I have not had the pleasure of trying a new one yet. I say yet since I am sure the Captain will sooner or later find one to try out. Tee-hee. Wishing you and yours an early but very happy, safe, healthy new year full of joy, love, laughs and prosperity.

Ouch... that one looks painful... but I suppose at least you don't have to worry about splinters. LOL

I'd definitely stick to the old fashioned one :)
Have a wonderful New Years Eve Hermione.

I'm going to agree with everyone the old fashioned is better...that new thing looks dangerous..it has speed holes, after all!
I also agree! It looks like part of a kids train track. I'll stick with the old.

Is that plastic!? HATE plastic! Only used for discipline on this gal, hate it,hate it,hate it! :(
I think it's unanimous - we all prefer the tried and true wooden version.
Happy New Year, everyone!
Hugs,
Hermione
Grrr, why do people have to try to "improve" on the original? It is rarely better, and in this case looks positively evil.
I prefer the wooden one, for ALL uses! Hugs n love, Daisy xxxxxxxxxx
The new looks like a paddle with holes, thus making it more effective. Please do a taste test so to speak, and let us know...
Theold had really poor quality edges that could give splinters

Daisy - I don't know. And "evil" is the right word for it.
Red - Splinters? I don't know where you get your paint stirrers from, but the ones from Colour Your World are of excellent quality :-)
Hugs,
Hermione
