Guess the Implement

My friend Season sent me this picture of an implement that she has had a little experience with. Knowing Michael, I'll bet it's used more than just a little, but Season is very modest.

So, when this wooden charmer is not warming somebody's backside, what is it used for? Leave your guess as a comment or email me, and I will unveil the mystery tomorrow.

Is it the back of a hair brush?

Looks like a gnocchi paddle (used to make the grooves, though a fork works just as well).

Could be a musical instrument! :D Just need something to drag across the grooves and it would make a kind of wash-board sound... :D

Ummm, something to do with noodles?

I'm with Dioneo -- my guess is a gnocchi paddle. And knowing Michael's Italian roots, I suspect he knows his way with one (in and out of the kitchen).

Got me on this one Hermione, I have no idea.
Don't think it's a hairbrush, could be a gnocchi paddle but I thought the groves covered the whole paddle.

Look forward to finding out what it is.

Like many of the other comments that you have received Hermoine. You have me stumped on this one.

That's a hard one. Could it be some kind of stirrer for large vats of thick liquid, like cream or that sort of thing.

I thought it might be a spaghetti strainer, but everything would slop over the side, so THAT isn't it.

So I also agree that Dioneo has it, gnocchi paddle! (You just gnocchi's gonna get spanked with that!_

It's a hand loom, to weave fabric on...?

Since I am Italian I ought to know what that thing is. Whatever it is I bet it leaves an interesting texture.

FYI - this is about 8 inches wide and 20 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. I've been lurking since yesterday to see what the guesses would be. *grin*

No clue...but a 1/2 inch think? Ouch! [What IS it with those Italian men anyway? ;)]
