Arnica Revisited

Several years ago I wrote about buying arnica to reduce the amount of bruising on my bottom after a spanking. Back then, the only place you could buy it was in tiny sidestreet natural products shops. You had to ask for it because it wasn't out on display, and you were afraid the clerk would guess the reason you needed it.

Now it seems to be available everywhere - even at Walmart. There are advertisements for it in many popular magazines, and probably on television too. (I wouldn't know because I always fast-forward through the commercials.)

But did you know there is a cheap and simple alternative? Ron recently sent me an email full of helpful household hints. One of them was this:

Vinegar to heal bruises... Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process.

You might find this one helpful too:

Quaker Oats for fast pain relief... it's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your bottom for soothing relief from post-spanking pain.

Who knew?

Good information to know - but I love the occasional bruise. It's like a badge of honor, and I LOVE to be able to feel it the next day.

Joey - It's nice to know arnica is available when you might need it.

PK - I like bruises too:)

I love these. Thanks for sharing. I was so thrilled the first time I had a bruise. Don't think I've had one since but it's good to know for other things..

Try putting it on before getting spanked.

Sunny - I also rarely bruise now. My bottom must be pretty tough.

Bogey - Um...okay.

Abby - I wonder if the apple cinnamon flavour works as well as banana nut?

Hermione

I bruise once in awhile I'll have to ask R to try the vinegar. But I also like to proudly display my spanking marks, it shows my acceptance of her rule. Thank you for the information

Loved what you had to say about arnica, but I used to "take" arnica tablets years ago, and arnica cream has been in our health stores forever. I also have a book on vinegar with that very same advice for bruises - but you stink like a fish and chip shop all day! Quaker oats - hmmmm. Love the thought! It's very good for the skin if you make a face pack of it. But what could you call a face pack for your bottom? LOL! I really don't like bruises as they inhibit my swimming, and my most embarrassing time was a few months ago having to explain away bruised bum cheeks whilst at the doctors. LOL! Think I will leave all the heavy bruising to you hardnuts. LOL!

Many hugs
Ami

Hermione,

I think I'll keep my Quaker oats just for breakfast.

I know vinegar has many uses, never thought of it for bruises.

Love,

Never would have thought about vinegar for bruises, that is good to know. Not sure the oatmeal would be worth the mess of washing it off. Lol

I have tried Arnica cream a few times; it doesn't seem to do anything for me. Not that it matters, since I don't bruise anymore anyway.

Oatmeal?? I think I'll stick to ice packs. :-)

The vinegar sounds interesting but I am not sure that I want to spend the rest of the day smelling of vinegar.

Thank you for the advice, Hermione. I'll have to look to see if Arnica is readily available down here. Like others said I think I'll stick to eating oats for breakfast.

Hi Hermione,
Saw Ami Starsong's comment and can't resist the urge to reply! (Hope you don't mind?)

A face pack for your bottom should be called a fanny pack!!!

R
(The thought of oatmeal on my bottom is rather weird)

good to know...if you try them, let us know if they work :-) I think the best cure is simply another spanking... :-)Hugs

I think your comment about some salesperson or cashier thinking about the real reason for buying the arnica is similar to the feeling I have when examining a paddle or spoon at Sur La Table. Back before Christmas 2013, we were in the local Sur La Table and I saw this paddle/spoon like implement and couldn't take my eyes off it, but was trying to be surreptitious. But in reality, no one can read anyone's mind, so why do we think of it like that? Certainly when we bought the wooden spoon at Ace Hardware, the cashier was thinking probably nothing other than when was 5pm coming. Of course, I was thinking about R spanking me with it. Funny how we think sometimes.

Vinegar for a bruise huh? I would've never guessed on that one. I have some arnica that's been in my medicine cabinet forever. I didn't even think to use it on my bum!

Hi Hermione, wow, never would have thought of vinegar and I think I'll keep the oatmeal for breakfast. Can't image smearing that on my butt lol

I too quite like to feel the occasional bruise the next day. Like Rose, I have some arnica that has been there for a while. It has been used on my bum though :)

Roz

Arched one - My pleasure.

Ami - I suppose you would smell rather yummy, especially if you used malt vinegar.

Jan - So do I.

Ronnie - I can't imagine how the oatmeal would stay on.

EsMay - It would be a waste of a perfectly good breakfast.

Erica - I didn't notice any difference either, back when I used to bruise.

Prefectdt - I like your new Blogger name!

Aunty Andrea - If not, you can always order it online.

Renee - Welcome! Fanny pack - perfect!

Terps - That's an excellent solution.

Baxter - Funny, I feel exactly the same whenever I buy a kitchen utensil intended for spanking.

Tomsrose - Welcome! Your arnica might be expired by now.

Roz - Did it make a difference in your bruises?

Hugs,
Hermione

LOL Hermione! This is interesting to know. We have some Arnica gel that we pull out every now and again.

Ami has me cracking up about smelling like fish and chips!! Now every time I smell vinegar I will think of bottoms smelling like that. Thanks for sharing! Many hugs,

<3 Katie

Wow Hermione...thanks for the info.

I have kept arnica around for years because I bruise very easily. Am sporting bruises on my arm from digging in my mom's car for her keys!

I use oatmeal for a lot of things but haven't hear of using it to remove soreness.

Will definitely have to give these a try. ;)

Blessings...
